As a Field Service Technician, you will be part of the Smith Services team, a part of Timken Power Systems. Your role will involve supporting the plant both internally and externally on motor repairs, switchgear maintenance, mechanical repairs, and on-site technical support.
Key Responsibilities
- Work as a productive team member in a group and sometimes solo at customer industrial sites, performing everyday repairs and support.
- Travel frequently to customer sites, with overnight stays and company-paid lodging and food.
- Perform motor removals and installs, cryogenic cleaning, on-site machining, vibration analysis, balancing, laser alignment, electrical testing, infrared thermography, and switchgear testing.
- Be on call 24 hours a day to offer customer availability for emergency work.
- Obtain necessary certifications, such as Mine Safety Certification (below and above ground) and OSHA Certification.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- AS Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology a plus.
- Valid Driver's License required.
- Ability to obtain Non-DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate.
- Ability to obtain Mine Safety Certification (below and above ground) and OSHA certification.
- 1-10 Years of Experience.
- Electric motor and Control Testing experience a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Verbal and Written Communication.
- Vision: Near, Distant, Color.
- Both hands required.
- Hearing of conversation level.
