As a Field Service Technician, you will be part of the Smith Services team, a part of Timken Power Systems. Your role will involve supporting the plant both internally and externally on motor repairs, switchgear maintenance, mechanical repairs, and on-site technical support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work as a productive team member in a group and sometimes solo at customer industrial sites, performing everyday repairs and support.
  • Travel frequently to customer sites, with overnight stays and company-paid lodging and food.
  • Perform motor removals and installs, cryogenic cleaning, on-site machining, vibration analysis, balancing, laser alignment, electrical testing, infrared thermography, and switchgear testing.
  • Be on call 24 hours a day to offer customer availability for emergency work.
  • Obtain necessary certifications, such as Mine Safety Certification (below and above ground) and OSHA Certification.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • AS Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology a plus.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Ability to obtain Non-DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate.
  • Ability to obtain Mine Safety Certification (below and above ground) and OSHA certification.
  • 1-10 Years of Experience.
  • Electric motor and Control Testing experience a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Verbal and Written Communication.
  • Vision: Near, Distant, Color.
  • Both hands required.
  • Hearing of conversation level.
