Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Information Technology Specialist to join our team at the Department of Energy. As an IT Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and implementation of innovative technology solutions to drive business success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective processes and procedures for the use of communication and collaboration tools, including email and Teams.
  • Support the maintenance and implementation of Microsoft 365 services, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.
  • Utilize applications such as Microsoft M365, Entra ID, and Kiteworks to collect and analyze data, driving informed decision-making and business growth.
  • Collaborate with staff to document and facilitate knowledge transfer and standard operating processes and procedures, ensuring consistency and efficiency across the organization.
  • Ensure continuity in operations and the rigorous application of information management/information security/cybersecurity policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of planning and management services in support of the Office's Strategic Plan.
Requirements
  • Occasional travel may be required.

  • You are required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450, Executive Branch Personnel Confidential Financial Disclosure Report within 30 days of entering the position and annually.
  • If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
  • Some hiring incentives may be authorized for a highly qualified candidate based on budget availability and in accordance with federal regulations.
  • This position is included in a Bargaining Unit.
  • This position does not support 100% remote work. You will be required to report physically to the official reporting worksite as specified by the supervisor, but no less than 2 days per pay period.
Qualifications

The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.

Candidates must possess the specialized experience below.

  • A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-13 in the Federal service.
  • Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting 2 of 3 of the following:
    • Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure current software meets business requirements, including recommended upgrades of software and enterprise systems.
    • Utilizing applications, including Microsoft M365, Entra ID, Kiteworks, to collect or analyze data.
    • Administrating cloud-based systems via patches, permissions, service deployments, or network performance monitoring.
  • Education cannot be substituted for experience at the GS-14 grade level.
  • Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience.

Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include:

  • Volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Time-in-Grade: Current Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement to receive consideration.

CTAP/ICTAP candidates: To be considered well-qualified, you must (1) meet all of the requirements as described in this section; and 2) be rated well-qualified, which is defined as having a score of 85 or better.
