Job Summary

The Clinical Dietitian serves as the patients nutrition advocate, ensuring their nutritional needs are met appropriately. This role involves providing nutrition consultation and education to patients as needed, determined by nutritional risk screening and/or referral by physicians or other healthcare providers for nutrition-related problems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Nutrition Assessment and Planning: Interpret provider diet orders, modify diets according to diet patterns and patient preferences, and evaluate the appropriateness of diet orders for diagnosis and recommend changes as indicated.
  • Nutrition Education and Counseling: Provide nutrition education and counseling to patients as deemed appropriate through assessment, and document relevant, accurate, and timely information in the patient's electronic medical record.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Attend and participate in multi-disciplinary rounds and meetings as the nutrition expert, and provide nutrition education at Nutritional Services Department staff meetings as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Education and Certification: Bachelors Degree in Nutrition with a one-year internship or a Masters Degree in Nutrition, Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) certified by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), and Licensed Dietitian (LD) licensure by the State of Idaho Board of Medicine.
  • Experience: One year hospital experience preferred.
  • Language and Communication: Able to communicate in English effectively in both written and verbal forms.
