Exchange Manager

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Exchange Manager to oversee all operations of a branch or location activity. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in retail and service type operations, with experience in managing departments, including retail stores, personalized services, service stations, food outlets, and concessionaires.
Key Responsibilities:
- Directly responsible and accountable for the performance and mission effectiveness of the Exchange and assigned departments.
- Assess the overall efficiency and integrity of assigned functions, with particular emphasis on high-risk areas such as inventory shrink, shoplifting, refund fraud, paperwork error, associate theft, and Open Purchase Order (OPO) errors.
- Ensure compliance with all operating procedures, directives, policies, and regulations relative to the management of cost control and loss prevention initiatives.
- Actively work to create an environment intolerant of internal and external theft, paperwork error, and inventory shrink.
- Plan and direct all operations of the activity to ensure achievement of established sales and profit goals.
- Initiate corrective action as necessary, and implement NEXCOM policies and procedures.
- Coordinate operations with department managers and supervisors, and monitor activity operations to recommend staffing requirements based on projected sales and services level goals.
- Responsible for uniform merchandise and assistance to military customers, and conduct meetings with associates and supervisors to ensure proper implementation of NEX programs and customer service.
- Perform administrative functions relating to the development of the activity budget, and exercise obligational authority for the control of funds within prescribed limits.
- Research and develop potential projects, prepare project submissions, and manage or assist in managing approved projects.
- Initiate correspondence relating to operational and administrative aspects of the activity, and responsible for the preparation and completion of required reports.
- Attend and represent the activity at operational and staff meetings, and provide input on the activity's progress and goal achievements.
- Responsible for the personnel management of the activity, and review requests for equipment, supplies, etc.
- Carry out the policy of courtesy and service, and work under the general direction of the District Vice President, General Manager, or other manager who provides overall guidance and assistance on matters of policy or procedures.
- Exercise judgment and initiative in carrying out all phases of the activity, and work is reviewed in terms of efficiency of operations and effectiveness in meeting operating goals.
Qualifications:
- A total of 5 years consisting of the following GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Three years experience in responsible work that enabled the applicant to gain a general knowledge of merchandising and retail practices and processes, skill in dealing with others in person-to-person work relationships, and the ability to exercise mature judgment.
- OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: One year of academic study above the high school level may be substituted for each 9 months of experience up to a maximum of a 4-year bachelor's degree for 3 years of general experience.
- AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Two years of progressively responsible experience which provided a knowledge of retail and or service type operations practices and procedures, and an understanding of management methods and techniques utilized in monitoring, developing, and improving operational plans or similar work which demonstrated improving operational plans, maintenance of inventory levels and stock controls, customer services, maintenance of equipment, exempt or nonexempt supervisory experience, and maintaining effective sanitation, security, and safety regulations or similar work which demonstrated the knowledge and abilities to perform the work of the position.
