About the Position

The City of Dana Point is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Community Development Planning division as an Intern. This is an excellent opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience working in municipal government and learn about current and advanced planning practices.

This is an hourly, part-time position, limited to 25 hours per week. The incumbent will assist City administrative, management, and technical staff as assigned, conduct research, compile and analyze data, and perform routine administrative and/or technical support tasks.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of urban planning principles and practices, excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing reports and presentations
  • Provide administrative support work for daily department operations or special projects
  • Perform routine technical work for a department
  • Conduct research projects and surveys; assist in compiling and analyzing data
  • Perform related duties, as assigned
Requirements
  • Graduation from high school or completion of a GED
  • Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program from an accredited college or university in public administration, business administration, or a related field
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid California driver's license
