As a Tax Compliance Analyst, you will operate under direct supervision to prepare and manage the company's tax obligations in accordance with all relevant tax jurisdictions and licensing requirements. Your role will involve verifying and analyzing tax information for precision.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare basic multi-state sales and use tax returns, environmental tire fee returns, and other miscellaneous tax filings utilizing tax software systems.
  • Validate tax-exempt certificates through tax-exempt software; collaborate with employees and retail clients.
  • Provide guidance and support to stores regarding tax-exempt protocols.
  • Assist in the preparation, submission, and payment of business personal property tax returns.
  • Monitor renewal dates for business licenses and permits; take necessary actions to ensure all licenses and permits remain current; ensure each location displays up-to-date licenses and permits.
  • Research and resolve basic issues related to business licenses and permits, including penalties, non-compliance, and false alarm notifications.
  • Prepare and maintain internal tax documentation, including Form W9 and various resale certificates; update and distribute as required.
  • Assist with IRS W-9 EIN Verification and 1099 processing.
  • Stay informed on the latest industry technologies, trends, and strategies.
  • Provide assistance to employees, vendors, or customers by addressing basic inquiries related to tax procedures and services.
  • Complete tasks in a timely and accurate manner while delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of one year of corporate tax or general ledger experience is required; familiarity with state tax laws is highly desirable.
  • Experience in a retail tax environment is preferred.
  • Proficiency in researching, compiling, analyzing, and interpreting tax data is advantageous.
  • Ability to read and interpret tax regulations with guidance is essential.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel, is required.
  • Capability to design and create basic spreadsheets is necessary.
  • Experience with SAP is preferred.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure, meet deadlines accurately, and maintain a professional demeanor is crucial.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team, manage multiple tasks, and meet various deadlines simultaneously is required.
  • Customer service skills, including the ability to manage and respond to diverse customer situations while maintaining a positive attitude, are essential.
  • Maintaining confidentiality, treating others with respect, and upholding company values are key attributes.
  • Additionally, strong organizational and problem-solving skills, a proactive attitude, and adaptability to changing requirements are vital.
Education Requirements:

A High School Diploma or GED is required; additional coursework in accounting or business-related subjects is preferred.
