Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled MRI Technologist to join our team at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare. This part-time position is located at Lake Forest Hospital and requires a commitment of 20 hours per week, working every Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 6:30pm.

Responsibilities
  • Administer gadolinium contrast intravenously, screen for allergies and contraindications.
  • Position patients on examining tables and place coils close to areas of interest, following exam protocols and reviewing physician orders.
  • Enter data into the computer, including anatomical areas to be scanned, orientation, and position of entry.
  • Communicate with patients before procedures to obtain history, explain risks, and what can be expected.
  • Key commands to specify MRI scan sequences and adjust parameters and slice positioning.
  • Alert patients and staff of danger of wearing or carrying metal near the magnet.
  • View images of areas being scanned on video display screens to ensure quality.
  • Ensure patients complete MRI screening forms, review written forms, and discuss verbally for contraindications.
  • Investigate and clear potential ferromagnetic foreign objects/implants before exposing patients to the magnetic field.
  • Receive and review orders, coordinate schedules, prioritize urgent exams, and obtain wet reads.
  • Maintain and clean work areas and equipment, replenish supplies as needed.
  • Adhere to MRI safety guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Control and evaluate safe entry of all persons, objects, supplies, and equipment into the MRI environment.
  • Ensure exams are ordered correctly in HIS/RIS and charged and tracked accurately.
  • Initiate service calls for equipment problems.
Qualifications
  • ARRT or ARMRIT certification.
  • 2-3 years of undergraduate education or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of related work experience.
  • BLS through American Heart Association.
