As a key member of our Radiation Therapy team, the Radiation Therapist will execute a range of technical and clinical responsibilities that ensure high-quality care for our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Duties:
1.1. The Radiation Therapist is responsible for conducting thorough assessments, planning, and delivering tailored interventions while ensuring patient confidentiality and dignity.
1.2. Provide safe, evidence-based care that meets the unique needs of each patient and their families, reinforcing the guidance provided by Radiation Oncologists regarding treatment reactions and care.
1.3. Adhere strictly to radiation safety protocols, conducting Time Outs at critical stages of treatment to confirm accuracy in patient care.
1.4. Navigate electronic medical records efficiently to verify treatment plans, schedule appointments, and manage billing codes.
1.5. Participate in the orientation and training of new staff, sharing knowledge of clinical techniques and departmental policies.
1.6. Execute all technical tasks in accordance with departmental guidelines.
1.7. Provide technical support as needed and cover shifts when scheduling changes occur.
1.8. Administer medications as prescribed by licensed practitioners.
1.9. Be available for emergency calls and weekend duties as required.
1.10. Report any equipment malfunctions immediately to the appropriate personnel.
1.11. Operate therapeutic equipment following manufacturer standards and departmental policies.
1.12. Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
1.13. Perform additional duties as assigned.
1.14. Resolve complex setups and guide staff and students in these processes.
1.15. Manage urgent cases and coordinate on-call activities with the therapy team. - Expertise and Problem Solving:
2.1. Exhibit flexibility and adaptability in diverse clinical scenarios.
2.2. Maintain continuing education and licensure requirements as a member of the ARRT.
2.3. Take initiative for personal development by setting and achieving professional goals.
2.4. Serve as a clinical resource for colleagues and patients.

2.6. Organize daily activities to ensure efficient departmental operations.

2.10. Troubleshoot routine issues encountered during patient care. - Instruction and Development:
3.1. Engage in the education of students in the Radiation Therapy program, collaborating with the Program Director.
3.2. Foster a respectful and professional learning environment for students.
3.3. Participate actively in student liaison meetings.
3.4. Evaluate student performance during clinical rotations.
3.5. Model professional behavior and contribute positively to the work environment. - Administrative Responsibilities:
4.1. Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement relevant policies and procedures.
4.2. Participate in departmental committees as needed.
4.3. Assist in the development and presentation of new initiatives related to treatment and simulation.
4.4. Work collaboratively with other departments to resolve issues related to treatment planning.
4.5. Provide feedback on staff performance for competency evaluations.
4.6. Assist in the recruitment process for new staff.
4.7. Ensure appropriate staffing levels and provide coverage as necessary.
4.8. Support the lead therapist in scheduling and operational coordination.
Qualifications:
Education: Graduation from an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology program; ARRT registration and CT Licensure required.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years in radiation therapy, with at least 1-3 years in a similar role within the organization.
Licensure: CT Licensure required, ARRT Certification, BLS Certification preferred.
Skills: Strong communication and active listening abilities, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety protocols. Ability to engage effectively with patients under stress.
Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, maintain a steady gait for patient mobility assistance, and work in a fast-paced environment.
