Overview:The Department of Biology at Loyola University Chicago is seeking applications for a full-time postdoctoral fellow position. This role is designed for a one-year term, with the potential for extension based on performance and available funding. The successful candidate will engage in research focused on the responses of oligodendrocytes under various stress conditions, including endoplasmic reticulum stress and inflammation.
Research Focus:The postdoctoral fellow will collaborate with Dr. Yanan Chen's laboratory, employing cellular, genetic, and pharmacological methodologies to explore cytoprotective mechanisms in oligodendrocytes, particularly in relation to multiple sclerosis progression. This position offers an excellent opportunity for candidates interested in gaining teaching experience while contributing to innovative research.
Responsibilities:- Conduct in vitro investigations of oligodendrocyte response pathways.
- Utilize various genetic mouse models and demyelination models for research.
- Collect and analyze experimental data.
- Prepare manuscripts and deliver presentations.
- Mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
- Teach one or two courses within the Department of Biology.
Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in neurobiology or a closely related discipline. Experience working with murine models is essential.
