Patient Care Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Specialist to join our team at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center. As a Patient Care Specialist, you will provide exceptional care to patients in the Emergency Department, focusing on personal hygiene, nutritional needs, and activities of daily living. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as you will work closely with registered nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Assist patients with physical, psychosocial, environmental, spiritual, social, and educational needs, supporting their plan of care throughout their stay.
- Effectively communicate patient changes and conditions to the registered nurse and multidisciplinary team, documenting in the electronic medical record in a timely and accurate manner.
- Provide patient comfort, safety, and dignity, protecting their privacy and confidentiality.
- Communicate with internal and external customers and colleagues in a courteous, positive, empathetic, and professional manner, accepting assignments willingly.
- Attend and participate in departmental and organizational meetings, in-services, and educational opportunities.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Successful completion of a formal Nurse Aid course or training, verified through transcript or original program certificate.
- Nursing Assistant experience preferred.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Previous blood drawing experience preferred.
- Medical terminology training or proficiency preferred.
