Role Summary:
The Laboratory Director is responsible for overseeing, directing, and managing the operations of the Laboratory department. This role ensures adherence to established policies and procedures, maintains appropriate staffing levels, and guarantees that supplies and equipment are adequately stocked. The director plays a crucial role in integrating the laboratory efficiently with other hospital departments. Responsibilities include developing and managing the departmental budget, fostering continuous performance improvement, attending mandatory meetings, promoting educational growth, and ensuring that all staff complete necessary annual evaluations and competencies.
Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Biology is required.
Certification: Certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCA), Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS), or an equivalent credential is mandatory.
Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years of leadership experience in a laboratory environment is essential.
