We are seeking a skilled Nursing Manager to lead our Medical/Surgical Unit. This role is responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality patient care through effective leadership, staff supervision, and department organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight to the Medical/Surgical Unit, ensuring the delivery of optimal patient care
  • Coordinate clinical activities, staff supervision, and department organization to achieve quality and safety goals
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve patient outcomes and staff performance
  • Assume responsibility for own personal continuing education and developmental needs to stay current with industry trends and best practices
  • Attend hospital and/or committee meetings as appointed to contribute to organizational decision-making
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chief Nursing Officer to support the hospital's mission and goals
  • Provide action-oriented feedback to staff, confront situational problems directly and quickly, and make unpopular decisions when necessary
  • Drive departmental processes and communication toward prioritizing quality outcomes, including aggressive core measure compliance
  • Maintain a safe work environment for staff and patients, come to work in neat, clean, and pressed department specified attire, and submit professional, well-prepared reports and assignments
  • Develop flexible schedules to maximize nursing staff productivity, meet budgetary targets, and enhance the quality of care delivery
  • Cultivate and promote open inter and intra departmental communication, provide regularly scheduled staff meetings to cascade needed information, and reinforce the use of hand-off communication and SBAR
  • Counsel employees and, as necessary, take appropriate disciplinary action for infractions of policy and Code of Conduct in accordance with hospital policy
  • Investigate, evaluate, and respond to all complaints and take measures to correct problems through to resolution
  • Provide consistent direction for enhanced patient flow for all departments, House Supervisors, and Shift Managers to improve and maximize patient flow on all shifts
  • Articulate and utilize factual data for problem-solving patient and/or staff-related conflicts in a way that demonstrates a positive and cooperative manner

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing with the completion of a BSN required, MSN preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience as supervisor and acute care clinical skills
  • Current professional nurse license issued and/or recognized by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification
  • Ability to communicate in English; both verbally and in writing
  • Additional languages preferred
  • Computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, and Outlook
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills required
  • Current regulatory knowledge (CMS and Joint Commission) and current evidence-based practice knowledge
  • Strong experience with service excellence culture
