Job Description

Job Summary:

The Canton Township is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Youth Services Staff to join our team at the Block Youth and Teen Center. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading and supervising activities for teen participants and at-risk populations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise activities at the Block Youth and Teen Center for teen participants and at-risk populations.
  • Operate Township vehicles and transport program participants to assigned locations safely.
  • Present a professional image and communicate effectively with fellow employees and the public.
  • Ensure safety rules, policies, and procedures are followed by the public and employees.
  • Enforce departmental rules and regulations, operating procedures, and policies.
  • Assist in planning, supervising, and coordinating teen programs, participants, and activities as assigned.
  • Coordinate setup, teardown, and cleanup of programs and events.
  • Respond to emergency situations and incidents, including First Aid, CPR, severe weather, and missing child events.
  • Maintain facility and equipment appearance and cleanliness.
  • Assume lead worker responsibilities for events and activities as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum age of 18 years old.
  • Valid Driver's License with a driving history that does not create liability concerns.
  • Ability to operate a 12-passenger van equipped with a wheelchair lift and tow a trailer as necessary.
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) Certification within one year of employment.
  • Valid Michigan Chauffeur License within 14 days of hire.
  • Basic First Aid and CPR (Adult & Infant) Certifications within 60 days of employment.
  • At least six months of experience working with youth and at-risk populations, with one year of experience preferred.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies in a calm and efficient manner.
  • Education in Diabetic Care and Monitoring within one year of employment.
  • Ability to communicate procedures, problems, and policies with fellow employees and the public effectively.
  • Skill in organizing self and others, with the ability to self-start in discharging responsibilities.
  • Ability to work a wide variety of shifts, including afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
