Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Street Maintenance Technician to join our team at the City of Rexburg, ID. As a key member of our Public Works department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the maintenance and repair of city roads, alleys, parking lots, signs, storm drains, and other City-owned property.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a variety of light equipment, including pick-up trucks, street sweepers, 4-wheelers, and small tractors with push blade attachments.
  • Perform manual tasks, such as shoveling dirt, gravel, and other materials, cleaning up work sites, and repairing bridges and drain pipes.
  • Construct and maintain drainage ponds, perform winter snow removal, and assist with street painting crews as needed.
  • Mow, weed eat, and perform general cleanup of City right-of-ways and City-owned properties.
  • Clear snow off sidewalks, pathways, bridges, and other City-owned property.
  • Make and/or spray salt brine solution as needed.
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections and maintenance on all equipment and vehicles being used.
  • Report any problems found with vehicles or equipment and maintain all fluid levels, including regular greasing.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent and two years of experience in the operation of light equipment.
  • Valid Idaho Class A Commercial Driver's License with Tanker Endorsement and Air Brakes or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.
  • Ability to work on a 24-hour on-call basis for a week at a time and be on a stand-by basis for severe weather alerts and snow removal.
  • Ability to work overtime, holidays, and odd shifts to accomplish work as needed.
  • Ability to become Flagger Certified and Traffic Control Trained.
  • Ability to be within a 30-minute response zone from the Street Department Building.
Physical Requirements

This position requires a variety of physical activities, including walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, lifting, and talking. Daily exposure to weather extremes and seasonal conditions is also required.
