Custodial Assistant

Join the Fairport Central School District team as a Custodial Assistant, responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our school facilities.

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented individual to assist in the upkeep of our buildings and grounds. As a Custodial Assistant, you will be responsible for performing general cleaning and maintenance tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors, as well as assisting with minor repairs and maintenance.

• Perform standard cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors and carpets
• Assist with minor repairs and maintenance, such as tightening loose nuts and bolts, unplugging defective electrical cords, and replacing light bulbs
• Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables
• Assist with moving, distributing, and transporting furniture, supplies, and equipment
• Turn off lights, secure and lock windows and doors
• Sweep outside steps, rake and pick up leaves and debris, shovel snow, and salt steps and walkways
• Push or ride lawnmower used in trimming grounds
• Write work orders for maintenance and repair jobs
• Check to see that cleaning tasks have been completed properly

• One (1) year paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in building cleaning work
• Valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State or ability to provide own transportation

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, lift up to 50 pounds, and stand for long periods of time. The successful candidate will be required to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends.
