Position Overview

The Licensed Practical Nurse II plays a crucial role in delivering direct patient care through the application of the nursing process. This position involves identifying and addressing patient needs under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct patient care while utilizing established nursing protocols.
  • Administer, manage, and discontinue IVs and IV medications as required.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Completion of an accredited Practical Nursing Program.
  • Valid LPN Licensure in the state of West Virginia.
  • Current certification in CPR.
  • Successful completion of the Licensed Practical Nurse II Certification Course at UHC.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Current ACLS Certification.
  • Experience of six months to one year in an acute care environment.
  • Familiarity with the EPIC documentation system.
Core Duties:
  • Implement nursing processes to ensure effective patient care.
  • Assist in educating patients about their health and treatment plans.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of nursing interventions and patient outcomes.
  • Exhibit proficiency in both technical and clinical skills.
  • Administer prescribed medications in accordance with physician orders.
Physical Demands:
  • Frequent physical activity required for nursing tasks.
  • Capability to lift, move, and position patients as necessary.
  • Normal hearing and visual acuity required.
  • Ability to exert force to move objects as needed.
Work Environment:
  • Potential exposure to various elements, including body fluids and infectious materials.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Ability to comprehend and execute both oral and written instructions.
  • Strong reading and comprehension abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Mathematical proficiency for medication dosage calculations.
  • Accurate documentation skills using electronic health record systems.
  • Capacity to perform under pressure and adapt to fluctuating workloads.
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and various shifts as required.
