Position Overview: The Mechanical Design Engineer will play a crucial role within the Engineering team, collaborating with various Engineering disciplines, Business Managers, Project Managers, and clients.

In this capacity, you will be responsible for achieving functional, business, and overarching company goals in alignment with Gen. IV advanced reactor design initiatives, particularly focusing on the Natrium Reactor. This role will involve tackling intricate technical challenges in a fast-paced project setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead mechanical design efforts, including analyses, evaluations, and verifications for the Natrium Primary Sodium Mechanical Pump.
  • Support projects of low to moderate complexity.
  • Conduct analysis, design, testing, or integration necessary to define the Natrium Primary Sodium Mechanical Pump in accordance with business standards and program requirements.
  • Perform essential engineering calculations and modeling.
  • Create detailed drawings and specifications to ensure products meet all engineering and quality standards.
  • Focus on assessing causality and risk associated with designs.
  • Prepare and present technical data to internal stakeholders.
  • Facilitate discussions and information exchange to encourage open communication, effectively working within a matrixed team environment.
  • Ensure product designs comply with all intended applications and design specifications by collaborating with experts from other functional teams.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with ASME Section III or VIII.
  • Experience in designing large equipment, particularly with load-bearing, slow-speed rotational bearings, and high positional accuracy.
  • Familiarity with ASME pressure boundary standards is essential.
  • Nuclear experience is preferred, but candidates with pressure boundary and bearing expertise will also be considered.
  • Experience in testing or manufacturing processes would be advantageous.
