Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Fiber Optic Technician to join our team. As a key member of our crew, you will be responsible for testing and splicing fiber optic cable, ensuring high-quality results while adhering to safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of relevant construction safety standards, operating codes, policies, guidelines, and technology.
  • Perform tasks efficiently, following Federal, State, company, and customer standards and schedules, including testing and splicing of fiber optic cable, working on/around telecommunications lines and equipment, installing fiber optic cable, conducting job safety briefings, and assisting with cost estimation.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams in a professional manner to meet project requirements, inventory/equipment needs, and schedules, including documentation.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including overtime and emergency duty as requested, and travel occasionally, including overnight stays.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of utility design, construction, and maintenance, including related equipment, safety requirements, standard operating procedures, and federal/state/local laws.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, and a strong work ethic; be self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to climb utility poles and/or work out of an aerial lift device, lift 100 lbs. on an occasional basis, and up to 50 lbs. frequently.
  • Able to work outside in various weather conditions, standing, walking, and working on uneven ground for extended periods.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
