About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Plumbing Engineer to join our team at Arup. As a Graduate Plumbing Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, from designing and implementing sustainable building systems to collaborating with clients and engineers to deliver exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed drawings and system design calculations
  • Conduct system load calculations to determine equipment size
  • Write reports and summaries of calculation methodologies employed
  • Attend meetings and communicate with clients to establish their needs and discuss design issues
  • Collaborate and coordinate with engineers of other disciplines, companies, and external consultants
  • Incorporate sustainable design methods in building systems
  • Select equipment for use in building systems
  • Perform construction administration tasks, including site visits and submittal reviews
  • Assist in performing calculations for design-specific piping systems for various projects

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Sanitary, Environmental, or Architectural Engineering
  • Coursework in fluid hydraulics/piping/fluid dynamics
  • Proven interest in the built environment
  • Ability to interface with clients
  • Good time management habits, ability to multi-task, and ability to sustain focus on long tasks
  • Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way
  • Attitude of taking initiative, enthusiasm, eagerness to learn, teamwork, and creativity
  • Ability to prioritize effectively, balance assigned work, and exceptional organization skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for team-based working
  • Presentation skills with colleagues and clients of all levels
  • EIT/FE certification preferred
  • Membership in ASPE, ASHRAE, or NFPA preferred
  • Courses in sustainability or USGBC participation preferred
  • AutoCAD or Revit drafting skills preferred
  • Internship experience in an engineering-related firm preferred
  • Evidence of past internship or extracurricular activity in the field preferred
  • Proven ability to perform in a paid work environment with intermittent supervision preferred
  • Past history of technical presentations and technical writing preferred
  • Evidence of personal investment in academic or extracurricular field preferred
