Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the engineering design process for roadway projects, ensuring timely delivery and quality results.
  • Coordinate design efforts with other disciplines and subconsultants, ensuring seamless collaboration.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and stakeholders, providing regular updates and progress reports.
  • Prepare and review plans, specifications, cost estimates, reports, and calculations necessary for a complete deliverable package.
  • Mentor and train junior engineers on roadway design, ensuring knowledge transfer and skill development.
  • Serve as a Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) Subject Matter Expert (SME) for reviewing deliverables, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Support the Project Manager during the bid phase and construction, including responding to requests for information (RFI) and preparing addenda and plan revisions.
  • Assist the Business Team Leader and Project Manager with marketing efforts, including proposal writing, client interaction, and public engagement.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited program.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Georgia or ability to obtain license through reciprocity.
  • Ten to twenty years of relevant transportation design experience in Georgia, including technical knowledge of roadway design and industry standards.
  • Ability to lead a design team to meet deliverable schedules within defined budgets.
  • Knowledgeable in the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) Plan Development Process (PDP), Plan Presentation Guide (PPG), and Electronic Design Guide (EDG).
  • Good interpersonal and leadership skills, with effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) proficiency.
Preferred Skills
  • Previous experience as a consultant working with GDOT and county/municipal clients on transportation projects.
  • Bentley OpenRoads Designer proficiency.
  • Thorough understanding of GDOT Environmental Procedures Manual (EPM), GDOT Utility Accommodation Policy, GDOT ROW acquisition procedures, GDOT Locally Administered Projects (LAP), and GDOT Office of Materials and Testing (OMAT) Geotechnical Manual.
  • Experience in preparing fee proposal hour estimates.
