POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES:
The IT Support Technician role is essential in facilitating the deployment of fleet Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), diagnosing ITS hardware and software issues for transit planning projects, and providing support for general IT and planning department requirements. This position involves gathering field data, executing route sign installations and removals, and being available during off-peak hours for necessary ITS installations and updates. The technician will engage with various levels of the organization and community to identify needs, resolve issues, and suggest enhancements.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with staff and stakeholders to discuss research requirements and deliverables.
  • Maintain logs to track scheduled work and completed tasks.
  • Ensure the security and documentation of ITS and IT assets in compliance with PCI and organizational standards.
  • Collaborate with the Finance Department to oversee and monitor technical assets.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair fleet ITS.
  • Acquire knowledge of new fleet ITS hardware and software.
  • Adapt to evolving environments and technologies.
  • Collect field data utilizing Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
  • Install and remove signage throughout the service area as directed by the Planning Department.
  • Work evenings and weekends as necessary to conduct installations and updates during peak vehicle availability.
  • Provide basic helpdesk support to users when third-party assistance is not available.
  • Effectively communicate with BCRTA personnel to relay essential information.
  • Analyze data as requested.
  • Assist management with special projects.
  • Maintain composure and act judiciously under pressure.
  • Foster a positive public image of BCRTA and exceed customer expectations.
  • Attend training sessions and meetings as assigned.
  • Act as a BCRTA ambassador, demonstrating a positive attitude and promoting exceptional customer service.
  • Adhere to all BCRTA policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:


Physical & Visual Activities:
Must be physically and mentally capable of safely operating transit vehicles and executing all essential job functions. (Must meet the physical qualification standards as specified in the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.)


Physical Abilities include:
1. Ability to lift a minimum of 30 lbs from the floor.
2. Knee lift strength of at least 30 lbs.
3. Waist lift strength of at least 50 lbs.
4. Chest lift strength of at least 20 lbs.
5. Overhead lift strength of at least 20 lbs.
6. Horizontal push/pull strength of at least 80 lbs.
7. Medium agility/dynamic balance.
8. Low finger dexterity.
9. Low manual dexterity.
10. Continuous ability to remain seated.
11. Continuous ability to twist and turn head.
12. Frequent ability to bend over/stoop.
13. Frequent ability to climb steps.
14. Ability to kneel or squat.
15. Ability to reach overhead.


Constant periods of hearing, near and far acuity, depth perception, and color vision are required. Frequent periods of speaking, standing, walking, and sitting. Occasional periods of squatting, kneeling, reaching, and twisting.


ENVIRONMENTAL/ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS:
Exposure to seasonal temperature extremes and limited exposure to vehicle exhaust.


JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


Skills and Abilities:

  3. Strong analytical skills to identify problems and research solutions.
  4. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.

  7. Strong organizational skills for research and record-keeping.
  8. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.

Experience:
Moderate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Suite and a proven ability to learn new software and hardware systems. A passion for technology and technical processes is essential. BCRTA provides training for qualified candidates on industry-specific applications.


Education:
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a technical field is required.


LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • CDL preferred but not mandatory.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Valid driver's license.

BCRTA is a political subdivision of the State of Ohio, organized as a Regional Transit Authority under Ohio law. BCRTA serves as the designated recipient for Federal Transit Funds and provides public transportation services throughout Butler County, Ohio.
