The Printing Operations Assistant will be responsible for measuring, setting up, and maintaining various materials for our printing machinery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate log stackers and compensating stackers to ensure neat logs and skids for optimal bindery performance.
- Inspect product quality during press runs, focusing on fold squareness, page numbering, lap, and overall print quality.
- Set up and operate local and remote piece weight scales.
- Perform general maintenance and proper cleaning of strappers and log stackers.
- Provide accurate product counts at the conclusion of each press run.
- Label each finished skid appropriately and place it in the designated area.
- Prepare stacker equipment for subsequent jobs and assist the press crew with setup and press make-ready tasks.
- Maintain cleanliness in the press area, ensuring floors are swept, trash is disposed of, and equipment is wiped down.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts (day and night) to meet production demands.
- Willingness to work overtime as necessary.
- Strong communication skills.
- Excellent attendance record.
- Good mechanical aptitude and intermediate math skills.
- Proficient in using hand tools for equipment setup and adjustments.
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Experienced in using measuring devices such as rulers and calipers.
- Physically able to lift up to 60 pounds occasionally.
- Familiarity with reading machine blueprints and parts lists.
- Physically capable of bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods on concrete floors.
Preferred Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
