Position Overview

The Kentucky Personnel Cabinet is seeking a qualified individual for the role of Staff Attorney. This position is integral to the functioning of the Judicial Branch, specifically within the Administrative Office of the Courts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analyze records related to cases presented before the court.
  • Draft legal opinions, orders, and judgments with precision.
  • Assist the court in the editing and dissemination of legal opinions.
  • Support the preparation of jury instructions.
  • Provide updates to the court regarding recent legal developments and case law.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
Qualifications

Education: Must possess an advanced degree from an accredited law school.

Skills: Exceptional research and writing capabilities are essential. Experience with law review is preferred. Proficiency in Westlaw is required.

Licensure: Candidates must be a member of the Kentucky Bar Association or actively pursuing membership.

Work Environment

This role is primarily office-based, with potential travel requirements.
