Senior Mechanical Equipment Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Equipment Engineer to join our team at American Honda Motor Co.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a multi-discipline team introducing and implementing equipment required for new model introduction into Honda facilities.
As a Senior Mechanical Equipment Engineer, you will be responsible for driving forward projects and activities as functional Project Leader, PIC, or Subject Matter Expert, from inception through handoff to final design/assy.
You will focus on characteristic improvements aligning with the Business Unit strategy and regional goals, collaborating with the design team and plant members to achieve required quality, cost, and safety criteria.
Key Responsibilities- Develop optimal machine concepts for any process characteristic change using fundamentally sound engineering principles
- Provide technical support of equipment/process and feed/indirectly support the Project Leadership function
- Support correlation with external functions (e.g. external suppliers or plant resources)
- Functionally act as direct project leaders for small/midsized business plan projects, driving forward the project from an engineering perspective
- Perform detailed process studies of new model car parts to understand machine capability, feeding back issues to car part designers as needed
- Create Specification/Scope of work documentation to summarize changepoints, establish criteria and process/part flow
- Online support during the installation phase of the project, linked to verifying spec criteria
- Create and maintain a critical path schedule to maintain overall project milestones
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of 3D CAD systems and software
- Background in automated equipment development
- Excellent technical communication skills (both written and oral)
This role offers an 85% office environment for creating specification documentation, with 15% manufacturing floor time for direct line side investigation/support/verification at Honda facilities or external equipment vendors.
Must be willing to travel locally, regionally, and internationally as required on a project basis.
