At Vidant Health, we are seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technician I to join our team. The successful candidate will perform clinical laboratory tests by standard operating policies and procedures. This role requires a strong understanding of method principles, quality control, and calibration. The ideal candidate will also have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare patient specimens for laboratory testing and perform laboratory tests specific to the department
  • Monitor test results to ensure accuracy and validity
  • Communicate test results in a timely manner
  • Enter and retrieve data from laboratory computer systems
  • Clean and maintain laboratory equipment and environment
  • Demonstrate appropriate behavior in the workplace, treating patients, their families, visitors, and staff with respect and dignity

Requirements:

  • Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or currently enrolled in an accredited Clinical Laboratory Science Program (BS) and have completed the specific laboratory rotation (e.g. Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, and Transfusion Services)
  • Equivalent laboratory training and/or work experience with the US military (2 years) will meet the education requirement
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP or other nationally recognized certifying agency

Working Conditions:

This role requires working alternate shifts, including nights and weekends. The ideal candidate will be flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities.
