Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Millwright to join our team, responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing our sawmill machinery and equipment. This role is crucial in ensuring optimal machine performance and meeting production targets and quality standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and Repair: Install, maintain, and repair industrial machinery and mechanical equipment by interpreting blueprints and manuals.
  • Equipment Optimization: Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts to ensure optimal performance.
  • Fabrication and Installation: Operate machine tools such as lathes and grinders to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance, or set-up of machinery.
  • Inspections and Quality Control: Conduct routine inspections of machinery and equipment to assess functionality and efficiency.
  • Collaboration and Improvement: Collaborate with other maintenance team members and management to improve production facilities, reduce the incidence of costly breakdowns, and develop strategies to improve overall reliability and safety of plant, personnel, and production processes.
  • Workplace Safety: Maintain clean and safe work areas.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to emergency breakdowns during both work hours and non-work hours.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Proven experience as a Millwright or in a similar role in an industrial setting, preferably in the forestry or wood products sector.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of construction equipment and machinery.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Technical Documentation: Ability to read and understand complex technical documentation and blueprints.
  • Mechanical and Technical Skills: Excellent mechanical and technical skills.
  • Education: Completion of a Millwright apprenticeship program or an associate degree in mechanical engineering technology is preferred.
