Naval Architect

As a Naval Architect at Life Cycle Engineering, you will provide technical guidance and support for projects assigned to you. You will review maintenance availability planning products for surface ships to ensure safe repair procedures are planned and ship's stability is maintained throughout the availability, up to delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Generate production information for ship structure, hull machinery/equipment installation, hull fitting installation/fabrication, accommodation furnishing, etc.
- Performing naval architecture calculations, e.g., stability/hydrostatic, weight distribution, etc.
- Develop a Turnover Book to be used during the maintenance availability
- Perform ship inspection and/or checks as required
- Assisting to resolve technical compliance issues
Requirements:
- Minimum of ten (10) years' prior experience working with US Naval vessels
- Detailed experience with regard to ship's stability and docking
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3-5 years as a Certified Docking Observer (NAVSEA Dry Dock Safety Certification Program)
- Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering degree in Naval Architecture or Structural Engineering from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) school with emphasis in Structural Engineering or Naval Architecture
Physical Demands and Expectations:
- Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, and standing; frequent periods of prolonged sitting may be required.
- Maneuvering around tight spaces in a shipboard environment.
- Ability to speak, read, hear, and write, with or without assistance.
- Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment.
