Public Safety Officer

The Public Safety Officer is a critical role at South Arkansas College, responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our campus community. This position requires a strong understanding of law enforcement standards and procedures, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities- Patrol assigned areas on foot or in a vehicle to prevent and respond to security incidents
- Enforce traffic laws and regulations, and identify safety hazards and violators
- Provide escort services for visitors, students, staff, and faculty, and assist with lockouts and other public assistance
- Direct traffic during high-density periods and respond to emergencies
- Conduct investigations of crimes, accidents, and incidents, and prepare reports
- High school diploma or equivalent, plus one year of experience in law enforcement or a related field
- Certification as a Law Enforcement Officer by the Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training, or an approved law enforcement training academy
- Valid Arkansas driver's license
- Five years of experience in law enforcement or a related field
Employees must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds or more, and stand or walk for prolonged periods.
