Position Summary:
Under limited supervision, the role entails the inspection of various components, assemblies, tooling fixtures, and materials to ensure they meet customer specifications, company standards, and quality requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections of machined parts, components, assemblies, and materials to ensure adherence to relevant regulatory standards (Military Standards, ASTM, AWS, ANSI, and ASME Code).
  • Generate and distribute electronic and hard copy inspection reports, notifying relevant stakeholders, including project engineers.
  • Set up and operate measurement and testing equipment, including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD & T).
  • Utilize Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMM) for part acceptance, including equipment setup, inspection techniques, and final dimensional checks during the manufacturing process.
  • Maintain and update computer databases as necessary.
  • Oversee testing processes to ensure compliance with established requirements and standards.
  • Engage with regulatory agencies and customers during audits and reviews of inspection and calibration activities.
  • Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process control procedures.
  • Coordinate the procurement of standard materials and services for inspections.
  • Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and obligations while conducting business on behalf of the company.
  • Work safely in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.


Qualifications:

This position typically requires an associate's degree, trade school certification, military training, or equivalent experience in quality inspections, along with three or more years of progressive experience in electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, or metrology inspection and calibration. Additional experience may substitute for formal education.


Essential Skills:

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications, along with performing complex mathematical calculations.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of personnel, including management.
  • Ability to interpret complex information and address a variety of intricate issues.
  • Intermediate to expert knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD & T).
  • Demonstrated capability in operating CMMs; programming experience is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with CMM software programs (PC-DMIS or similar metrology software).
  • Willingness to work alternate shifts as needed.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team environment, with flexibility for extended hours as required.
  • Experience with ISO 9001, AS 9100/9102, and Department of Defense (DOD) quality assurance program requirements in a manufacturing context is highly advantageous.
  • Possession or ability to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance is preferred.


Salary: $55,110 - $81,930
