Job Title: Quality Inspector CMM

General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) is a leading designer and manufacturer of first-of-a-kind electromagnetic and electric power generation systems. We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Inspector CMM to join our team.

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for inspecting a wide variety of parts, assemblies, tooling fixtures, and materials to ensure compliance with customer requirements, company specifications, and quality requirements. The successful candidate will have a strong background in quality inspections, metrology, and calibration, with experience in operating Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMM) equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect machined parts, components, assemblies, and materials to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines (Military Standards, ASTM, AWS, ANSI, and ASME Code).
  • Provide electronic and hard copy reports of inspections and notify appropriate parties, including project engineers.
  • Set up and operate measuring and test equipment, including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD & T).
  • Operate CMM equipment to achieve part acceptance, including equipment set up, inspection techniques, and final dimensional inspections.
  • Prepare, update, and maintain computer databases.
  • Observe testing and provide quality oversight to verify compliance with requirements/standards.
  • Interact with regulatory agencies and customers during audits and reviews of company inspection and calibration activities.
  • Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
  • Coordinate the procurement of standard materials, services, and parts for inspections.
Requirements:
  • Typically requires an associate's degree, trade school certificate, military training, or equivalent in quality inspections or certification by a professional group such as ASQ or AWS.
  • Three or more years of progressive experience in electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, or metrology inspection and calibration.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications and perform complex mathematical computations.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interface with all levels of employees, including management.
  • Ability to interpret complex information and respond to a variety of complex issues.
  • Intermediate to Subject Matter Expert level of knowledge on Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD & T).
  • Proven ability to operate CMMs as required. CMM programming experience is highly desirable.
  • Display the required level of knowledge to utilize CMM software Programs (PC-DMIS or other metrology software).
  • Ability to work alternate shifts as required.
  • The ability to work independently or in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with ISO 9001, AS 9100/9102, and Department of Defense (DOD) quality assurance program requirements in a manufacturing environment.
  • Currently possess or the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance.

Salary: $55,110 - $81,930
