Position Overview:
The Bearing Fit Up Inspector plays a vital role in ensuring quality and meeting production targets. This position involves overseeing the final assembly of bearings for both domestic and international markets. The inspector is tasked with verifying that all prior work meets established standards before assembly commences. Utilizing various inspection tools, the inspector conducts thorough visual and dimensional assessments. Furthermore, the inspector selects the appropriate rolling elements for the bearings, documents their final measurements, and processes them for final inspection. Above all, the Fit Up Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all bearings produced conform to specifications by adhering to both Work Instructions and Engine Manual criteria.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilizing micrometers for precise measurements
- Employing dial indicators for accurate readings
- Setting up and inspecting radial clearance gauges
- Conducting race run-out inspections
- Using dial calipers for dimensional checks
- Performing visual inspections to identify surface defects
- Inspecting rollers and retainers for quality
- Cleaning and handling all components with care
- Properly loading and securing retainer tangs
- Measuring roller end play
- Ensuring face parallelism is within specifications
- Inspecting ring widths for conformity
- Marking specialized identification marks
- Recognizing race conditions through inspection
- Maintaining accuracy in visual checks for defects
- Utilizing gauging equipment for bearing geometry measurements
- Assisting in other areas as needed to support production
- Adhering to quality procedures and work instructions
- Prioritizing safety and attention to detail to prevent injuries
High School Diploma with prior experience in radial clearance inspection or a minimum of 1 to 1.5 years in bearing inspection.
Strong aptitude in basic to advanced shop mathematics.
Experience or proficiency in reading gauges.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated computer proficiency.
Strong problem-solving abilities.
Self-motivated and a collaborative team player.
Compensation: Competitive pay range of $23 - $29 per hour.
