Job Summary

The Prep Cook is a vital member of our kitchen team, responsible for preparing ingredients and stations used in the cooking process. This role requires attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Setting up and sanitizing workstations to ensure a clean and safe working environment.
  • Following prep lists created by chefs to ensure accurate and timely preparation of ingredients.
  • Measuring and preparing ingredients, such as stock, sauces, and vegetables, to meet the needs of our menu.
  • Preparing simple dishes, such as soups, salads, and desserts, to a high standard.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, including handling utensils, equipment, and dishes.
  • Ensuring all food items are properly stored and easily accessible to meet the needs of our kitchen.
  • Following recipes, including measuring, weighing, and mixing ingredients, to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Maintaining food safety and sanitation standards at all times.
  • Supervising food and cooling room temperatures to ensure optimal storage and handling of ingredients.
  • Accepting or rejecting ingredients from suppliers to ensure quality and freshness.
  • Executing opening and closing procedures to ensure a smooth and efficient kitchen operation.
  • Operating kitchen equipment, such as broilers, ovens, grills, and fryers, to prepare a variety of dishes.
Requirements
  • Minimum 6 months of experience in a prep or cook position.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures, including safe temperatures for ingredients and food preparation.
  • A desire to work as part of a team and contribute to the success of our kitchen.
  • Ability to work positively and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to follow direct orders and recipes, and to correctly prepare dishes to the standards of our restaurant.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to handle tools, such as knives for chopping, slicing, cutting, and dicing.
  • Ability to stand, walk, reach, bend, stoop, wipe, and handle extreme heat for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Professional appearance and mannerisms.
  • Food Handler Certification.
