Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse must exhibit advanced knowledge and skills in patient care. Each service requires specialized expertise.

The delivery of care is based on criteria that are age-appropriate and considers the physical, psychosocial, cultural, safety, and learning needs of each individual patient.

The Registered Nurse may rotate to other areas outside of their usual service area and will perform only those duties for which they have demonstrated competency.

The Registered Nurse executes delegated duties consistent with their scope of practice and operates within the philosophy and overall plan of care delivery at NSMC.

The Registered Nurse demonstrates positive support for NSMC and the entire HealthONE organization.

They will embody North Suburban's core values of Safety, Compassion, Integrity, Connection, Communication, and Commitment in all interactions with patients, staff members, and physicians.

The NICU RN cares for both low-risk and high-risk infants. The NICU RN is capable of stabilizing and caring for infants of any gestational age.

They can manage acute infants on ventilators with umbilical lines requiring 1:1 care, stable preemies, and low-risk term neonates.

The NICU RN assesses each infant according to policy, performing a comprehensive head-to-toe assessment. They assist with feedings, providing support and education for both breast and bottle feeding. They offer age-appropriate education and teaching for parents and family members. The NICU RN will also attend low and high-risk deliveries as needed, following NRP guidelines.

What qualifications you will need:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support through the AHA or ARC.
- NRP required within the first 3 months of hire.
- STABLE Preferred.
- Registered Nurse,
- Current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Registered Nurse, or current active multistate Registered Nurse license.
- Registered Nurse Diploma,
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing; BSN desirable.
