Job Overview

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a Carbon Reduction Modeling and Analysis Research Scientist to join our Decision Sciences team, reporting directly to the department head. You will collaborate within a diverse team utilizing various modeling tools and methodologies across bioenergy, supply chain resilience, and manufacturing sectors.

Your role will involve supporting the advancement of both ongoing and new initiatives at INL through computational techniques such as discrete event simulation, optimization, system dynamics, and agent-based modeling. The computational resources at your disposal will include the development and implementation of high-performance computing solutions, analytical tools, web-based applications, and database interface solutions to enhance modeling platforms and frameworks for both internal and external stakeholders.

You will assist INL leadership in fulfilling Department of Energy (DOE) and industry standards, achieving milestones, and managing internal reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Become an integral member of our interdisciplinary research and development team.
  • Demonstrate a passion for transforming the global energy landscape and effectively contribute as part of large, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Maintain a strong record of successfully completing research projects within budget and on schedule.
  • Contribute to the scientific reputation of the team through significant input to presentations, reports, peer-reviewed publications, invention disclosures, and external collaborations.
  • Provide innovative, comprehensive, and feasible solutions to a variety of complex and challenging problems. Act as a Principal Investigator (PI) or Co-PI on projects requiring creativity and originality.
Qualifications:Minimum Requirements:
  • PhD in Engineering Economics, Forest Economics, Resource Economics, Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Business, or a related discipline, along with two years of relevant experience.
Job Information:
  • The compensation range for this position is: Level 2 ($75,804 - $155,496) / Level 3 ($91,008 - $186,588). Compensation decisions at Idaho National Laboratory are based on factors such as education, relevant experience, and other qualifications.
