HVAC Mechanical Engineer/Designer

At Design Air, we're seeking a skilled HVAC Mechanical Engineer/Designer to join our team. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for planning, designing, engineering, and project estimates while maintaining and growing client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide quotations for HVAC equipment processing for estimation of project completion
  • Design heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system layouts for customers working with a variety of building layouts formats
  • Read and interpret blueprint and construction drawings to complete system layout
  • Provide design support, code assessment, and plan submittal within local, state, and federal codes and procedures
  • Communicate with customers on projects, plan revisions, and submittals via phone, email, and in-person while always ensuring collaboration and problem-solving
  • Work closely with customers, partners, and colleagues to achieve deadlines while delivering a quality product
  • Calculate heat gain/loss for residential and commercial applications

Requirements:

  • 3+ years' experience as an HVAC Designer or HVAC Engineer required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineer or related program preferred
  • State Certified HVAC Designer License preferred or willingness to become certified
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprint and construction drawings
  • Experience with Auto CAD or equivalent program
  • Prior HVAC project management or estimating experience preferred
  • Knowledge of HVAC, building, and mechanical codes
  • Detailed knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, equipment, and commercial supplies
  • Demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills, plus attention to detail
  • Ability to recognize and meet deadlines with each project
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal direction and delegate tasks when necessary
  • Ability to build successful working relationships with customers, contractors, and co-workers in a professional manner
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
