POSITION SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Controller is responsible for overseeing all aspects of inventory management and cost accounting. This includes the production budget, tax compliance, work-in-progress oversight, and manufacturing execution functions. The role serves as the key point of contact for inventory matters between the accounting and operations teams, ensuring the accuracy of labor costs and inventory usage. The controller will manage inventory across multiple permanent and temporary locations nationwide and will be tasked with summarizing financial performance and supervising the monthly financial closing process.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise and execute month-end inventory close activities.
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly reconciliations of all inventory-related balance sheet accounts.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial records in line with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Maintain precise cost accounting for manufactured goods.
  • Refine cost processes related to administration, labor, and logistics.
  • Identify and report cost variances against production budgets to leadership.
  • Direct inventory procedures for both internal and external audits.
  • Oversee regular inventory counting processes.
  • Establish and uphold accounting policies to ensure robust internal controls.
  • Safeguard and optimize company assets, focusing on inventory management.
  • Monitor manufacturing execution activities and their integration with our ERP system to maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Provide detailed reports on production metrics, including material usage and operational efficiency.
  • Address discrepancies in manufacturing execution data and resolve issues promptly.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

  • Effective Communication – Articulates information clearly and engages audiences through various media.
  • Financial Insight – Analyzes financial data to identify business strengths and weaknesses, informing strategic decisions.
  • Work Management – Efficiently manages time and resources to complete tasks effectively.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in Accounting or Finance or active CPA certification required.
  • A minimum of 7 years of accounting experience is essential.
  • At least 5 years of experience in cost accounting is required.
  • Proficiency in accounting software is necessary.
  • A strong understanding of inventory systems and their impact on financial reporting is essential.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and advanced spreadsheet skills are preferred.
