Job Summary

Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Program Aide. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the daily operations of our programs, ensuring the well-being and safety of our children and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist classroom staff in all classroom activities, field trips, and outdoor activities, as outlined in lesson plans.
  • Develop and implement materials and activities that cater to the cultural background of the children and families we serve.
  • Supervise children during mealtime, promoting good nutrition and social skills.
  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment.
  • Assist the teacher in various aspects of the program, including family nights, newsletter preparation, and phone calls.
  • Provide temporary substitute support in the absence of the teacher assistant or teacher.
  • Work with assigned children with disabilities, supporting the work of classroom staff, managers, specialists, and mental health consultants in carrying out individual plans.
  • Follow IEP/IFSP guidelines with direction from professional staff.
  • Sanitize surfaces, store materials, and maintain a safe environment.
  • Assist with janitorial services and food preparation, logging meals and snacks according to USDA/CACFP requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to established policies and procedures.
  • Attend staff and parent meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to lift at least 45 pounds and provide physical assistance in transporting special needs children.
  • Successful completion of 45 hours of Florida Child Care Facility Training within 12 months of certification.
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR within 90 days of hire.
  • Successful completion of a Level II background screening, local criminal record check, health, TB, and drug screening prior to hiring.
  • Bilingual preferred: English/Spanish or English and other languages present in the local area.
