Machinist I

We are seeking a skilled Conventional Machinist I to join our team at Winpak. As a key member of our manufacturing department, you will be responsible for setting up and operating various machines to produce precision parts.

• Set up and operate manual mill, surface grinder, and engine lathe to perform machining operations such as turning, boring, reaming, milling angles and more.
• Calculate feeds and speeds to run machines for the appropriate materials.
• Study blueprints, work orders, or machining instructions to determine product dimensions, tooling, and to plan operational procedures.
• Verify starting materials are adequate prior to beginning production.
• Responsible for quality of the finished product or services outlined.
• Make recommendations, as needed, to other machinists as to possible solutions to machining challenges.
• Conduct in-process inspections to verify that all quality standards are being maintained.

• High school diploma and 2-5 years experience in a machine shop setting.
• Working knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and machining instructions.
• Basic reading, writing, and some advanced arithmetic skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment.

The manufacturing environment is subject to moderate changes in temperature and the employee will be exposed to typical hazards of noise, flying debris, and overhead hazards. The use of proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is required.
