WLI Conventional Machinist I

PAY RANGE $21.00 TO $25.00 per hour based on experience Conventional Machinist is responsible for the set up and operation of a variety of machines to produce precision parts. May also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.Education and Experience:Position requires high school diploma and 2-5 years experience in a machine shop setting.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Working knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.Experience using the following machines: Engine lathe, manual milling, drill press, arbor press and other variousBasic reading, writing, and some advanced arithmetic skillsAbility to read and interpret blueprints andA certain degree of creativity and latitude isAbility to work in a teamDuties and Responsibilities:Responsible for all activities involving fabricating, inspecting, deburring parts for capital equipmentCalculate feeds and speeds to run machines for the appropriate materialsStudies blue prints, work orders, or machining instructions to determine product dimensions, tooling, and to plan operationalSets up and operates manual mill, surface grinder, and engine lathe to perform machining operations such as turning, boring, reaming, milling angles andSet and adjust speeds, feeds and depth of cut to machine parts to specifications set forth in blueprints andVerifies starting materials are adequate prior to beginning toResponsible for quality of the finished product or services outlinedMake recommendations, as needed, to other machinists as to possible solutions to machiningWill conduct in-process inspections to verify that all quality standards are being maintained.Will be required to deburr, polish, assemble, part marks, and perform other various machine operations asWill work from drawings and use hand grinders and common hand tools to grind and polish a variety of parts to meet contour, size, and finishAdheres to all company policies, safety rules and safe workPerforms other duties asPhysical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting or standing. The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs. The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). The employee will perform physical work a minimum of 90% of work day.
