Responsibilities:

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Lead Systems Architect will leverage extensive experience and expertise to design and support advanced IT solutions within the Constellation IT framework, offering expert technical guidance and insights to project managers and stakeholders regarding IT system enhancements and implementations across the enterprise environment.

Possessing advanced capabilities to design and execute high-priority, complex IT initiatives, the Lead Systems Architect will focus on cloud, non-cloud, and hybrid cloud models.

This role will entail providing technical leadership to ensure the effective delivery and maintenance of IT solutions that support Constellation's operations.

Evaluating IT infrastructure and application solutions will be crucial, as will making informed recommendations to enhance application and data workloads across various hosting models.

Demonstrating proficiency in the design, configuration, and deployment of current hosting services to support virtual hosting technologies, software-defined data center solutions, hyper-converged infrastructure, and relevant software tools will be essential.

This position requires collaboration with various IT teams, leadership, enterprise business partners, vendors, and project/design teams to ensure secure and reliable application hosting throughout Constellation's expansive and intricate enterprise.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES


Define direction and assess the need for IT evaluations, designs, connectivity, and validation of various hosting vendors and associated technologies.

Provide expert consulting and recommendations to senior leadership in these domains. Conduct technical discovery sessions with vendors and clients. Lead and coordinate business projects, planning, maintenance, and network connectivity for multiple major Business Units.

Establish the design, configuration, deployment, and operation of both cloud and non-cloud systems, assisting with the migration of existing applications to new cloud hosting platforms.

Offer expert-level consultation on IT systems engineering, design, and operations to leadership, project teams, and end users to identify system requirements and conduct feasibility analyses regarding security and technical architecture changes.

Collaborate with leadership and stakeholders to develop future technology roadmaps, resource requirements, migration strategies, and project timelines. Contribute to presentations and/or Engineering and Architecture Review Boards. Participate in potential refactoring, refresh, or redesign efforts during cloud migrations. Create documentation for the installation, replacement, and upgrading of cloud components and other application hosting solutions. Stay informed about industry technologies and service offerings. Generate requirement documents, statements of work, logical and physical architecture diagrams, and implementation plans for integration into business environments.

Identify the need for and initiate product and service evaluations, testing, lab setups, and mockup solutions as necessary.

Act as a senior resource (Subject Matter Expert) in the Hybrid Cloud enterprise journey, encompassing ongoing architecture, design, planning, configuration, implementation, testing, and documentation of the enterprise IT systems hosting environment.

Contribute to assigned IT projects and deployments to ensure solutions align with business requirements.

Accountable for engineering, implementing, and supporting solutions at the component level, including hands-on configuration, troubleshooting, optimization, and supporting metrics.


Provide structured feedback to leadership and peers regarding risks identified during business impact analyses, site risk assessments, and disaster recovery planning. Assess, develop, design, and support custom system integrations tailored to customer needs. Maintain current knowledge of emerging application and hosting technologies.

Commit to continuous improvement in technical knowledge, industry trends, and business acumen across all IT disciplines or functions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field, coupled with 8 years of experience in IT infrastructure design, application design, cloud computing, disaster recovery, or equivalent job experience.

Proven consulting, presentation, and project management skills.

Demonstrated expert proficiency in at least two engineering domains, such as storage, compute, database, collaboration, application design, cloud hosting, and related technologies.

Willingness to travel domestically.

Qualifications:

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

Certification in a relevant area of expertise.
