Job Summary:
Human Learning Systems is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Academic Instructor to provide support for our ESL/Basic Reading program. As an Academic Instructor, you will play a critical role in helping our students gain academic, career technical, and independent living skills that will prepare them for career readiness or advanced training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction to non-native speakers of English, focusing on grammar, reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
- Plan and prepare instructional tasks that are meaningful and related to learning goals.
- Collaborate with teacher teams, co-teach lessons, and conduct demonstration teaching.
- Utilize technology for communication and instruction, and maintain a clean and clutter-free work environment.
- Develop and implement curriculum and Training Achievement Records (TARs) necessary to attain student, Center, HLS, and DOL goals.
- Conduct assessments to diagnose areas of difficulty, prescribe individual plans, and identify appropriate materials.
- Design instruction to meet individual student needs, and develop and implement Career Success Standards (CSS) projects.
- Assist students in the college enrollment and financial aid process, and prepare them for Advanced Training (AT) opportunities.
- Meet with Career Technical Training instructors to identify required skills that can be taught and reinforced in an academic setting.
- Maintain accurate record keeping, including submitting ESPs, documenting student progress, and administering accurate completion of TARs.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Valid Arizona State Driver's License.
- CPR/First Aid Certifications.
- Valid Teacher Certification, in state of employment.
