Director of Philanthropy

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Giving to join our team at Canopy Village (formerly Children's Village) Foundation. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and implementing strategies to inspire individual donor prospects to make meaningful gifts in support of our organization's fundraising priorities.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement annual fundraising plans to meet revenue targets
- Build and manage a portfolio of mid to major-level donor prospects ($10,000+)
- Conduct qualification calls, emails, and visits to annual fund level donors to work to qualify their interest and capacity to give at the mid-level ($10,000+)
- Develop authentic relationships with donors in a focused portfolio to discover donor interests and help them accomplish their philanthropic goals in alignment with our organizational priorities
- Solicit and close one-time and pledged gifts at the $10,000+ level, and partner on planned gifts of all levels where possible
- Manage the Canopy Village Philanthropy Council, a local volunteer leadership group responsible for making donor referrals to help build our mid-level and major gift donor networks in their communities
- Work closely with the Development Manager to secure funding for annual events, campaigns, and other initiatives as assigned
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or CFRE preferred
- 4-6 years of progressive fundraising experience including gifts of $10k and above
- High level of knowledge of an overall donor or customer experience model
- Proven experience in prospect research and constituent relationship management
- Solid relationship building skills
- Ability to interact successfully with others, both in person and through phone, email, and written correspondence
- Understanding of individual donor needs and perceptions
- Strong ability to speak in public
- Excellent written communication skills
- Sensitivity to needs of donors
- Problem-solving, research, and analytical skills
- Attention to detail and organization
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products with a key focus on Word, Excel, and Outlook; experience with SharePoint is a plus
- Proficiency in use of databases is required, preferably Salesforce
- Salaried staff; bonus structure available

- Annual education reimbursement benefit at 90 days for full-time of $2,400 OR at 90 days, option of $200/month agency contribution to Dependent Care Account ($2,400 annual benefit)
