About the Role

This position offers an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic South Portland Mechanical/Electrical engineering group, specializing in power generation. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems for various projects, working closely with senior staff to ensure high-quality results.

Main Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine engineering assignments, receiving guidance from Project Engineers on expected outcomes.
  • Develop design options and recommendations through analysis, and assist in cost estimate preparation and specifications.
  • Provide support for equipment overhauls, rebuilds, and new installations, ensuring seamless project execution.
  • Pursue feasibility studies or conceptual designs for new or expanded projects, driving business growth and success.
  • Support inspections and condition assessments of existing facilities, identifying areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Collaborate on mechanical life extension and system upgrades, ensuring reliable and efficient operation.
  • Participate in mechanical balance of plant upgrades at existing facilities, streamlining processes and enhancing overall performance.
  • Prepare equipment procurement and design specifications, facilitating smooth project progression.
  • Perform performance testing of hydro turbine equipment, verifying compliance with industry standards.
  • Evaluate contractor bids and proposals, ensuring value-based decisions.
  • Create detailed mechanical system designs, including P&IDs, equipment sizing, and system calculations, to deliver exceptional results.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • A strong attitude and commitment to being an active participant in HDR's employee-owned culture.
Salary Information

We offer a competitive salary range of $65,000 - $85,000 per year, commensurate with experience, plus benefits and opportunities for professional growth and development.
