Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at UTHealth. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the technical operations of the positron emission topography (PET) laboratory, ensuring quality control and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a full range of PET scan procedures on patients as ordered by physicians, creating reliable patient image data using sophisticated computer technology and nuclear medicine technology.
  • Develop and introduce new image processing techniques to enhance efficiency, timing, and accuracy.
  • Use appropriate imaging protocols for each patient, recognizing problems with computerized protocols and taking corrective action when necessary.
  • Assist in the development, revision, and enforcement of laboratory policies and imaging procedures.
  • Provide in-service training to new and existing clinical and technical staff, serving as a resource for other technologists.
  • Develop and write specifications for diagnostic radiological equipment, and may serve as a resource for faculty.
  • Implement new clinical procedures, protocols, hardware, software, data analysis, research projects, management steps, or other innovations for greater productivity and program enhancement.
Requirements
  • Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Associates degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
  • Three years of experience in a nuclear cardiology lab.
