Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Meat Department Associate to join our team at Kroger. As a key member of our meat department, you will be responsible for performing general production work, maintaining and operating the department, and demonstrating our company's core values.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to customer needs and provide excellent service.
  • Accurately update and maintain department temperature logs.
  • Train and follow up with Meat Department associates on temperature logs to ensure accurate recordings.
  • Operate light power equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Learn and follow procedures and methods of the meat department.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to safety rules.
  • Keep carts, tools, and supplies organized and in designated areas.
  • Ensure floors are clean, safe, and free from clutter.
  • Make a friendly impression on customers and communicate effectively with associates.
  • Follow all current rules and duties of the Meat Department, Company, and State and Federal laws.
  • Keep work areas and equipment clean and orderly.
  • Be prompt, tactful, calm, courteous, and professional in all interactions.
Requirements
  • Willingness to work weekends and holidays.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to read shelf tags, signs, and product labels.
  • Ability to work safely with chemically based cleaning solutions and operate certain equipment.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to tactfully and calmly handle stressful situations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Meat work experience or similar experience in food preparation.
  • Past work record reflects dependability and integrity.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to employment practices, safety, and food handling.
