Piedmont Triad Regional Council (PTRC) is in search of a dedicated and self-sufficient Accountant.

The ideal candidate should be a CPA candidate, demonstrating a strong commitment to the field. This role involves direct engagement with the general ledger, including account reconciliations and departmental assistance.

The Accountant will apply federal and state regulations, along with organizational policies, procedures, budgets, and principles of governmental accounting. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing, reviewing, and modifying accounting procedures, systems, and policies.
  • Performing routine to complex accounting tasks.
  • Assisting the Finance Director in the preparation and analysis of fiscal reports.
  • Interpreting and adhering to the Fiscal Control Act.

The role requires independent judgment, discretion, and initiative in completing assignments. The anticipated salary for this position is $50,233.28, depending on qualifications. PTRC provides excellent benefits, including participation in the Local Government Employees Retirement System (LGERS).

Position Requirements:

The successful candidate will possess knowledge of general accounting principles, methods, and practices. Key skills include:

  • Data analysis and the ability to produce tailored financial, statistical, and narrative reports.
  • Leadership capabilities.
  • Understanding of planning, budgeting processes, and internal controls.

Additionally, the Accountant must demonstrate:

  • Analytical thinking.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply rules, policies, and regulations.
  • Capability to build and maintain relationships across all organizational levels.
  • Confidentiality in handling sensitive information.

The position requires proficiency in modern office practices and software, including Microsoft Office. A Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited institution is necessary, along with being a current CPA candidate and up to two years of professional accounting experience, preferably in auditing or the public sector. An advanced degree may substitute for practical experience. Candidates must successfully complete pre-employment drug screening and background checks, and a valid driver's license is required.
