Job Summary

AKS Engineering & Forestry is seeking a highly skilled Project Surveyor to join our team in Keizer, Oregon. As a Project Surveyor, you will work closely with our Project Managers, Project Engineers, and survey team on a variety of projects, including private and public works projects. Ideal Candidate Qualifications
  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) License: Required
  • Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or Forest Engineering: Preferred
  • Knowledge of Land Surveying Techniques and Principles: Must have experience in all phases of land surveying, including land surveying techniques, principles of boundary control, and construction surveying.
  • Laws and Regulations Pertaining to Land Surveying: Must be knowledgeable in the laws and regulations pertaining to land surveying in Oregon.
  • Technical Skills: Must have various land surveying technical skills, including ALTA/ACSM surveys, platting, land development, ROW surveys, preliminary design surveys, topo surveys, construction staking, deed research, survey map research, and good organizational skills.
  • GPS and Scanning Experience: Must have experience with GPS and scanning technology.
  • Boundary Line Resolution and Record of Survey: Must have extensive experience resolving boundary lines and creating Records of Survey.
  • Effective Communication Skills: Must have effective written and oral communication skills, including proposal and report writing.
  • Time Management and Prioritization: Must be able to work quickly, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Networking and Relationship Building: Must be comfortable networking with clients and colleagues to develop and maintain professional relationships.
  • Personal Responsibility and Accountability: Must possess solid time management, follow-through skills, and personal responsibility for completing quality work within budgets and timelines.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration: Must be able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Job Functions and Responsibilities
  • Project Surveyor: Will work under the direction of a Principal Project Surveyor on multifamily, mixed-use, municipal pipelines, residential subdivisions, commercial developments, and public works projects.
  • Field Survey Work: Will perform field survey work as necessary and direct the work of survey crews.
  • Survey Equipment Operation: Will operate survey equipment, including theodolite, levels, electronic measuring devices, and other equipment to measure distances, horizontal angles, and elevations.
  • Work Inspection and Quality Control: Will inspect work to ensure that it is conducted according to instructions and is in conformance with accepted land surveying standards.
  • Field Notes and Drawings: Will maintain accurate, orderly, and legible field notes of survey work performed, including lines, angles, distances, benchmarks, and mathematical calculations, and operate a computer and peripheral equipment to compile survey notes and create drawings, as required.
  • Signing and Stamping Documents: Will sign and stamp subdivision maps, Record of Survey maps, lot line adjustments, ALTA surveys, plats, and legal descriptions to attest to their technical correctness.
  • Safe and Effective Work Practices: Will perform survey activities in a safe and effective manner.
  • Trimble Robotic Total Stations and Survey Pro TSC3 Data Collectors: Will operate Trimble Robotic total stations with Survey Pro TSC3 Data Collectors.
  • Legal Descriptions and Boundary Line Resolution: Will interpret, evaluate, and prepare legal descriptions of real property and resolve boundary lines.
  • AutoCAD/Civil3D Drafting: Will perform AutoCAD/Civil3D drafting, including setting up sheets, importing points, line work/drafting, Record of Survey drafting, boundary line resolution, subdivision plat preparation, etc.
  • Project Completion and Special Assignments: Will complete projects and special assignments as requested.
