Athletic Therapist for Physical Rehabilitation

InterMed, P.A. is seeking a highly skilled Athletic Therapist to join our team. As an Athletic Therapist, you will work closely with our Physical Therapists to provide exceptional patient care and support.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare patients for treatment, including assisting with undressing and dressing, and applying supportive devices as needed.
- Assist with treatment as directed by the Physical Therapist or Physical Therapy Assistant, ensuring compliance with state practice acts.
- Safeguard and motivate patients in practicing exercises and functional activities under the direct supervision of a physical therapist.
- Provide services including heat/cold modalities, prevention of injury, bracing, and taping as allowed by state practice acts.
- Test and measure athletic injuries, and administer exercises for reconditioning athletes.
- Communicate with supervisors and other healthcare team members regarding patient response to treatment.
- Ensure treatment areas are clean, organized, and unobstructed, and clean equipment after treatment.
- Maintain adequate inventory and organize treatment areas.
- Change linens between patients when necessary.
- Treat patients with respect and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, or a related field.
- ATC certification from the Maine State Board of Certification.
- 1-3 years of clinical experience in an outpatient setting preferred.
- Effective communication skills, including written, verbal, non-verbal, and electronic methods.
- Ability to listen and acknowledge patient concerns and peers.
- Interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare providers.
- Ability to make effective decisions reflecting clear and logical thinking.
- Demonstrated flexibility in examining new approaches in response to changing organizational objectives.
- Proactive problem-solving skills.
- Prioritization of work activity based on department demands to complete assignments within designated timeframes with minimal supervision.
- Behavior that protects the safety of self, others, and department equipment.
- Continued education to maintain a competent level of practice.
