We are seeking a highly skilled Neurodiagnostic Technologist II to join our team at the Epilepsy Peds Center. As a Neurodiagnostic Technologist II, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of neurological disorders.
Key Responsibilities- Perform standard procedures in an outpatient setting or as a portable study in the ER, ICU, radiology, or inpatient units.
- Conduct neurodiagnostic procedures in accordance with the technical standards set forth by the American Society of Neurodiagnostic Technologists (ASET) and the American Electroencephalography Society (AEEGS).
- Maintain and improve clinical and technical knowledge, including the performance of advanced procedures under direct supervision.
- Document patient history in electronic medical records according to ACNS and departmental guidelines.
- Utilize the 10/20 System and 10/10 Modified Nomenclature System to apply electrodes and obtain standard or extended recordings.
- Recognize artifacts and take appropriate steps to eliminate them using intermediate troubleshooting techniques.
- Monitor other variables such as EKG, EMG, EOG, or respirations as technically or clinically indicated.
- Use activation procedures such as hyperventilation, photic stimulation, and sleep when appropriate, and demonstrate additional activation procedures when necessary.
- Select electrode combinations and create new montages and equipment settings for electroencephalographic recordings when clinically indicated under indirect supervision.
- Determine the correct montages, filter changes, and activation procedures to enhance epileptic form activity or waveform morphology.
- Perform advanced procedures under direct supervision.
- Correctly identify normal and abnormal EEG patterns.
- Summarize the recording for the purpose of informing the physician of abnormalities observed during the test.
- Keep equipment clean and in good operating condition.
- Familiar with diagnostic trouble shooting techniques and notify supervisor of problems.
- Assist with scalp electrode placement and maintenance of scalp electrodes on intracranial grid patients using 10/10 Modified Nomenclature under direct supervision.
- Graduated from an END or ASET on-line EEG 12 module course completion certification.
- Must pass ASET competency skills and knowledge required by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) for national board certification.
- CPR certified in basic cardiac life support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) within 90 days of hire.
- Must obtain ABRET R.EEG.T credentials within two (2) years of hire.
- Must be proficient with the International 10-20 System.
- Minimum of two (2) years directly related experience.
- Must have entry-level knowledge of PC or Microsoft Windows.
- Must possess the EEG Technologist Competencies set forth by ASET's National Competency Skill Standards.
