Position Summary:

SierTeK Ltd. is currently seeking a qualified Flight Surgeon to contribute to a significant project at a military installation.


Role Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will be engaged in a variety of tasks to support the Aerospace Medicine Clinical Sciences Division. This role is designed to establish a direct working relationship between the contractor and the government, ensuring day-to-day oversight by healthcare facility personnel.

Key Duties Include:

  • Performing thorough in-person aeromedical evaluations and reviewing medical records for aircrew with conditions that may require waivers, offering assessments to enhance aircrew health and safety.
  • Functioning as an independent expert within the Aerospace Medicine Branch, participating in clinical discussions and collaborating with fellow specialists.
  • Providing expert advice on aeromedical issues as needed.
  • Applying medical standards during physical examinations, utilizing the latest Medical Standards Directory and relevant guidelines.
  • Documenting clinical findings from waiver consultations and evaluations in both written and verbal formats.
  • Delivering instructional presentations to flight surgeons and other medical professionals on aeromedical waiver processes.
  • Developing educational materials and curricula based on research and presentations, ensuring high-quality content delivery.
  • Designing and executing scientific investigations based on relevant research data, presenting findings at professional conferences.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to review scientific literature and engage in discussions to support teaching and research initiatives.
  • Assisting in the preparation of scientific papers and technical reports related to aeromedical research.
  • Ensuring confidentiality and compliance with all relevant regulations concerning medical data and communications.
  • Providing technical guidance and support to professional staff regarding project management and complex case reviews.
  • Coordinating with staff to ensure timely execution of case reviews and evaluations.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a fully licensed physician with a specialization in aerospace medicine or preventive/occupational medicine, with at least 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience evaluating military personnel or similar populations for a minimum of one year is required.
  • Prior active-duty flight surgeon experience is essential, including familiarity with Air Force medical standards.
  • Former military flight surgeons transitioning from other branches must meet specific training requirements to obtain Flight Medicine privileges.
